Last night the champagne flowed as we celebrated the launch and opening exhibition of BCM’s Crucible Gallery with our staff, agency creative partners (including directors, producers and photographers), along with friends of BCM and Artisan Gallery guests from the Brisbane artistic community. The event was also a chance for us to show off our amazing new office fit out which was designed by renowned architects Donovan Hill.
It was a fantastic way to kick off the new year, and this event was the first of a series of exhibitions that will be showcased in the Crucible Gallery during 2012.
In a first for our industry, we have formed a creative partnership with Artisan, Queensland’s peak organisation for presenting and promoting unique and individual design. As well as promoting emerging artistic talent through exhibitions in the Crucible Gallery, we are also sponsoring emerging curatorial talent.
Last night’s exhibition showcased the Mapping Sensation collection by local artist Rebecca Ross. The exhibition includes a number of collage artworks along with a tailored installation piece spanning nearly 5 x 2 metres created by Rebecca on a large glass wall within the gallery. The exhibition was curated by BCM and Artisan’s emerging curator, Tasha Finn. Our guests enjoyed hearing first hand from Rebecca (who is about to leave our shores for study trips to Washington and then to The Vatican in Rome) and also from Tasha who explained the context and symbolism of the unique pieces of art.
Of course we have plenty of talented creative individuals at BCM and there will also be the opportunity for our staff to guest curate in the space and showcase their own unique artistic talents. Clients and visitors to BCM will be able to tour the gallery when they visit the agency.
We are looking forward to an exciting year of working with Artisan and to presenting some very inspiring exhibitions in the Crucible Gallery.
